Job Description
The Peace Officer provides for the safety and protection of all faculty, staff, students and guests at university events and functions. Assures compliance of university policies and state, local and federal law.

1. Assures compliance of university policies and all state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
2. Responsible for the safety and protection of individuals on campus or at events and functions of the university, and the security of university physical facilities.
3. Responsible for crime prevention and detection by patrolling all areas of the university to ensure protection of people and property. Patrolling on foot, bike or by car.
4. Assists in any public safety emergency on campus and maintains a working relationship with off-campus public safety agencies.
5. Provides escorts for university funds and bank deposits.
6. Complies, writes and submits reports on activities.
7. Ensures a prompt response and proper disposition of all calls for service.
8.Comply and be familiar with department and university policies and procedures.
9. Drives university owned vehicles.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
11. Is identified as and serves as necessary personnel in the case of a campus/city emergency and therefore is expected to respond to campus emergencies nights, weekends and holidays.
12. Participates in shift work scheduling and serves in an on-call capacity where the expected response time is 20 minutes.
13. Campus Security Authority for Clery Act purposes.
14. Essential Personnel, for emergency management purposes.
Qualifications
Required
Qualifications:
1. Must meet all Utah P.O.S.T. certification entry requirements upon hire.
2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
3. Must be at least 21
years of age upon hire.
4. Must be in excellent physical condition, and successfully complete Utah P.O.S.T. Physical Assessment Test, using the entry level standard.
5. Must be able to submit to a comprehensive background investigation and not have a criminal record, moral turpitude or jail able offense.
6. Must have a Utah drivers licence and must have an excellent driving record upon hire date.
7. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to follow detailed oral or written instructions.
8. Must have the ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the university community.
In accordance with Utah State Code 53B-1-110, appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful passing of a background check.
Preferred
Qualifications:
1. Associate Degree in a related field.
2. Certification in Taser, Radar, Firearms, Intoxilyzer.
3. CPR and First Aid, Bike Patrol, Event Security.
4. Excellent writing skills.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
